Opinions of owning a Wolf or Wolf dog

I am an owner of a Wolfdog, I was searching online for another one, when I came across a question posted about owning one. This lady's son brought home a wolfdog and she posted the question about how big it would get. That's all the person wanted to know. After reading all the negative remarks from these responders, she got more than she asked for. She was informed that she was ignorant, stupid, that she's got a killer in the house now, that the animal cant be trusted. My heart went out to this person, she asked a question about weight and instead she got opinions about the animal. Im sorry but I'm guessing 75% of them have never seen a wolfdog up close. People like this give wolves and wolfdogs a bad name. I have never met a bad wolfdog or wolf for that matter. Yes, I agree if you bring a wolf out of the wild it will be different, because it was born to survive and adjusting can take along time. But 99.9% of these wolfdogs are born in captivity to be loved by humans. The only time I have ever seen a wolfdog or wolf act aggressive is if you feed them raw meat, because it reinstalls the survival mode in them. I have been researching on wolves/wolfdogs for years, and in researching it states there has never been any documented wolf attacks on mankind. Now how about those "PIT BULLS"!!!! You non-wolfdog/wolf lovers can take that and shove it where the sun don't shine. These people will bitch about taking the wolves into captivity, but look at how many are killed a year for sport. These are loving animals!! As pissed off as I am after reading these people's remarks, they have their own opinions, but what really pisses me off is they lady never asked for it. What breaks my heart the lady probably took it straight to the Humane Society after that. If I was her and didnt know what I know, I would be scared shitless!! As far as people opinions about taking an animal out of the wild, look at the hounddogs that are kept in cages until hunting season. The Phoenix foxes, birds, snakes, racoons, skunks, these are wild animals that spend 90 percent of their time in cages with no interaction. However wolves/ wolfdogs roam free in a yard or house with love everyday, being treated like family members. I have to go this got me a lil' fired up, and I don't think I should type what I really want to say about these people and their opinions.

It's sad what fear does to people! I hope that woman didn't destroy or get rid of her dog because of the carelessness of others! And why didn't she just have her son ask where ever he got the dog about size & temperament?? OOps! Starting to get on MY soapbox! HEEHEEHEE! I'd say that wolf dogs are definitely more pig-headed & determined & mischievous than the other breeds I've had but I wouldn't trade it for the world!!

I wouldn't trade it either. Now that I have had wolf dogs, I will never go back. I will always have a wolf dog in my life. I could get on a soapbox here too and am very alarmed at what these people had to say. They have no idea what they are talking about. I have no fear of my wolf dogs, I know they love and respect me as I do them. And trust, you must have trust between you. In my teen years, my brother had a pitt that was an absolute angel. I truly believe it is how they are raised and mine are always raised like part of the family. My parents even refer to them as their granddogs or grandwolves. My father had some fear when I first brought Spirit home but he did the right thing, he started watching movies and documentaries and reading books and articles on wolves and their behavior and has become quite knowledgeable about them. My mother believes my wolf dogs would protect me with their life and lovingly refers to them as spoiled rotten. I love my babies so much. I have never had a "dog" that I can interact with this much, never had one that had behavior that I wanted to learn more about, never had one that I feel this passionately about. We had two litters with my wolfdogs. Why you ask? Because I wanted to get the wolfdog out there and educate more people about this truly beautiful, loyal, loving, sometimes obstinate, most of the time stubborn, highly intelligent animal. Meanwhile, there are humans that beat each other up and play the video on YouTube and people that taunt and beat the homeless, sometimes to the point of their demise. I think I will stick to wolfdogs, they are much safer. Thanks for posting this issue Amy and thank you Grace for commenting. Hopefully we will hear from more people on this. Okay, climbing down off my soapbox now, lol.
